Monas

Today rather then go to the gym I went for a walk around Monas, which is the national monument of the Republic of Indonesia. It was built to commemorate the struggle for Indonesian independence, but for me it was a bit of open space to walk without getting run over on a nice sunny day.

I declined the hour and a half wait in a queue to get to the top in favour of a walk around the surrounding park which had nice shady trees and no cars. This was mostly empty and I only got a few "Hey Mister" calls.

One persistent postcard seller wanted to discuss the upcoming executions and Tony Abbott but I managed to extricate myself without further damaging relations. I popped in to the Grand Indonesia Mall on the way home. Its as large an impressive and confusing as it sounds.
